I go on holiday to an area where there is no signal on my phone, no Internet cafe round the corner and to be honest I was on holiday and hadn't been arsed to go and get my English newspaper. The only channel in English was the world BBC news but I wasn't watching that either as was too busy getting pissed and having fun. Pretty much a media/Internet etc black hole just how holiday should be.

THEN Wednesday I see a paper. "FUCK what the FUCK is going on???"

This is the same jaw-dropping shaking of the head I had in 2007 and 2001, I know they are not on the same level but you get what I mean. Rioting everywhere, goons nicking and putting themselves on twitter (TWATTER) showing they've nicked a 5kg value of rice (that guy is a twat).
Buildings that have withstood wars now burnt to the ground, not even Hotspurs ground was sacred. Cities and towns around the country with little chavvy twats nicking everything they could, firebombing police stations, the officers and their vehicles.

There were a few hours difference between myself and Ol Blighty and I was glued, beer in hand of course but glued.

Ive got to hand it to my PSU brethren well done guys and girls that's what all the training is for. I'm just gutted I wasn't on duty to go and help mutual aid to GMP or METPOL or A&S or just about anywhere. I'm still on hollibops and have missed a lot so don't know if the riots came to the shires.

I like other bloggers have gone on and on about shit courts/cps cutting deals or not taking cases, the underclass coming out of court for their 50th theft or drugs conviction with a ten pound fine and yet another drugs worker and alcohol referral order - woopie fuckin do that'll teach em.
And now the MPs have come to work whilst on holiday, the courts are working through the night, over 1600 arrests made. Scum getting remanded, its great this is what should happen with these hoodie chavvy wastes of oxygen. Its got nothing to do with poverty, no jobs, being black or white or asian or whatever it was all to do with - fuck it Im gonna get me some Nikeys or new jeans, new TV and I'm gonna set fire to stuff, break stuff, hurt people. Anarchy not poverty, theft not deprivation, arson not uneducated and unwanted - these people are not of our community, send these fuckers down because as we all know if they are in prison they are not committing crime on our streets - as the meerkat states "SIMPLES!"

Hopefully all these do-gooders will now see that we need to keep police numbers, not cuts, that we need to be dealing more harshly with the criminals and if U16 their parents as well. Kick them out of their council houses, theres plenty of people in Africa without food and water let alone shelter. Give them harsher deals, you shouldn't have human rights when you've killed an old man for trying to put out a fire or beaten some young lad up, then stood him up whilst dazed and steal his stuff. You are animals and should be treated as such - prison and none of this open prison rubbish or ps2 in your cell. It should be hard labour - chain these twats up - you wanna be in a gang mate here you go we are going to chain you to 12 of your inmate buddies wearing bright pink or lime green and you are now going to pick up every piece or rubble, glass, rubbish that you threw along with every dog-end, piece of dog shit and you will clean our streets. You will scrub all the walls, you will apologise to every victim and then you will go behind bars and serve your dues.

Give respect for those around you and you shall be respected yourself. Respect is earnt not taken. Respect yourself, your family and your community.

Ive been unemployed, I didn't go stealing, I lived on a council estate where there was fuck all to do, so we made stuff to do, I didn't go into drugs or fighting with people. Ive also been a victim of crime, Ive been burgled and had my car stolen twice and attempted once. Ive had stuff sprayed on my walls. Ive been a victim of crime so I can see this from all sides.

The call comes in of some sort of disorder in progress, so I travel on blue and twos to back up another unit. On arrival outside of the block of flats, a blue cavalier was parked up with the driver being spoken to by officer already at scene. Another officer was speaking to three females on the door step into the block of flats. I joined this group to find out exactly was going on at which point I overheard "He wont leave her alone, he wont go away". I spoke to all three and worked out that he was sat in the cavalier 75yards away. I spoke to Jenny, who was a middle aged female quite plump and in need of a bra!! She wanted him to go away and leave her alone but he kept tipping up causing a scene. I took details found out he had been knocking on the door and shouting for Jenny as she didnt want to continue their relationship.
I went over to speak to him and to advise him to leave the area or he might get arrested, when out stepped a 6ft5ins male in a pink and lilac dress, long straggly hair, with a high pitched put on voice, it wasnt a natural voice.
I gained details and she identified herself as Debbra, advice was given, Debbra wasnt happy and wouldnt drop the situation so I had to resort to threats of arrest to get her to leave.
The problem is, I dont have a problem with people going through a change before the PC nuts out there get all pointy finger at me I treat everyone to their own needs (straight out of a text book), but I kept of thinking of one of my favourite Monty films, Life of Brian and all I could picture and hear was "HES NOT THE MESSIAH HES A VERY NAUGHTY BOY."

Debbra drove off giving me the finger calling me a "BALD CUNT" which I just smiled at, thinking "YEAH COS YOUVE GOT NICE HAIR". Ive got broad shoulders abuse doesnt affect me, Ive been in the job too long and to be honest Ive spent most of my teenage and adult years taking the piss out of people (mostly mates) and having the piss taken back. I just smiled and waved, as I think its rude not to reply to a hand gesture and name calling of that greatness.

I walked to the officer who was speaking to Debbra and without me saying anything she said "THAT SOUNDED LIKE MONTY PYTHON."

We deal with all sorts of people out there on a daily basis some make you smile, some make you shiver and some you just shrug your shoulders. You cant say Police work isnt varied.

Past Future

I sit watching Timecop with JCVD thinking what a cracking system that was invented the ability to go back in time to prevent crime. Think of the murders, rapes, child sex offences that could be stopped.
Actually the biggest thing affecting my area is Facebook and the inability of the fucking retards that use it with no social skills making threats to kill, arson etc etc towards others just because they looked at them funny today or that they are now shagging their ex-partner(s). Or any other reason that these low life, no job, non tax paying, 50ins plasma TV watching dickheads can think of.
They then come to us complaining that other people have also made threats to them and want us to sort it out, even though on another day they would spit on us or call us pigs/gavvers etc etc.

I would go back in time and destroy it, actually no I would make people pay to use it or provide a pay slip to use it!!!

Another idea would be to go in time and sterilise certain branches of the respective family trees, I think I could wipe out most of the crims just by doing this to a few people who have spawned whole generations of scumbag lowlife muppets we are now dealing with.

Oh well back to JCVD saving th world!!

There are so many names for this dept in our forces - basically they are the ones who agree whether we have a sanctioned detection for the government targets.

To be honest I dont give a shite whether I have a sanctioned detection, I just want the right result for both the victim and the criminal.

Theresa MAY wants to make it easier for Police and let us give out more FPNs (fixed penalty notices) for minor crimes and I think we all agree to that.

Our force did this recently -
A shop had someone detained for theft - shoplifting, it was less than £20-00 pounds. They had a bit of previous but nothing for about three years that related to theft. The PC contacted me and I agreed that it would be in the best interest that as the suspect could pay the FPN and it would be quicker and the store manager was happy we would give them an £80-00 ticket as that would be a lot more than what they would get from the court system.
All agreed, ticket given everyone happy???

NO the CAB stated that as the person had a ticket two years ago, that the ticket was invalid and would be void. Therefore the suspect gets nothing and we have to explain to the aggrieved that as the tickets void that no further action would be taken because thats the way it goes!!!

Who cares whether the person has had a ticket before (2yrs ago anyway), and also they stated hope you realise that the file is no classed as an undetected crime and it will go against our figures!!!
I dont f***ing care about the figures we had the baddie that is now getting away with a minor theft and to the shop staff it makes us look like a bunch of twats.

Penpushers, I certainly want to push the pen somewhere!!!!!

This has just been discussed on The One Show on BBC and I would like to share my thoughts.

In the most part I agree that this should be brought back but only in certain cases and I have my reasons.

13th July 1955 Ruth ELLIS hanged for killing her lover with a revolver. She killed him ten days after he had hit her causing her to lose her pregnancy and this wasn't the first time he had beaten her.

She hadn't just fired once she emptied the revolver into him and was arrested by an of duty officer who found her still holding the gun.

There was an uproar upon her conviction and many turned up to the prison on the eve and the morning of her hanging. She was the last female to be hanged in England.

Many have since stated that she suffered from battered woman syndrome and that she wouldn't of been convicted of murder today.

This case I don't think I would vote for the death penalty but obviously I would want to review all of the paperwork and know the history surrounding the day in question.

On the other hand there are plenty and I mean plenty of people that could be looked at to hang/face the firing squad.

social housing the debate - and jails!!

RANT - Do you think its right for a criminal to be given a brand new house and in the next close you've just paid 330-000 for yours?????

Its wrong its so wrong, I dont agree with the current way of dishing out housing. I think all criminals should be on the same estate with great f**k off fencing and gates that shut at 2300hrs and re-open at 0500hrs.

I agree that social housing should be put with private but not when the housing is being given to the scum that I have to deal with. They go from housing company to housing company having trashed and being in arrears only to get a brand new house. If you commit more than five crimes thats it shitty housing for you until youve been clear from criminality for five years????

The reason for my rant is Im currently dealing with a scumbag who strips lead from churches and schools (i dont mind the solicitors ;-) ) and stripping cabling from charity housing projects. This muppet who commit crime on a daily basis was on one of the main council estates in a flat, then his missus (who's never worked) gets up the duff, they get a new house in town centre area, lovely, minutes walk from shops, free parking the lot, she gets up the duff again, they get into arrears and then next thing I see is him in a brand spanking new house on the newest site on the outskirts of town. With his shitty flatbed parked infront of his garage. I cant even afford a house on this site (not that I want one near him) its just wrong, really wrong.

Everything and I mean everything is geared for the scum of this country and not for the normal tax paying law abiding people and if old CLARKEy boy can say tonight that prison doesnt work and it costs too much then hes a (I really want to be really abusive) misguided fool!!!! Tell that to the commuters and the rail company when those toerags stole all the signalling cabling which will cost millions - that wont be the first theft theyve committed and I bet their on a conditional discharge or on their last chance.

I say f**k 'em build bigger jails, use some of the Scottish uninhabited island as a jail, no wait, actually think bigger - compensate the people on the isle of white, ship them off and build the biggest prison. Ship all the nasty perverts, murderers and rapists there, this would free up the main prisons for the thieves/fraudsters (mp's) etc etc and let'em fight for their food, stick neck braces around them so that if they try to escape their head blows off. Surround the area with mines.

Missing Persons and Truants/Absconders

I'm writing this due to wasting my whole shift looking for MISSING PERSONS. Actually they are not missing persons - Jo YEATES from the Bristol area and Sian OCALLAGHAN from Wiltshire - that's a proper missing person that turned into a murder enquiry.
What we deal with are not missing persons, as this week Ive been mostly dealing with runaways (or little T**ts as I call them and that's being polite)!!!
Unfortunately we have to treat them all as poss missing persons knowing full well the little darlings (all from local social service run children homes) will turn up when hungry or tired or needing a lift home. They're a waste of time in my book as all the staff from these homes seem to do is wait five minutes after the time they're supposed to be back, lets just say 2200hrs and then ring us reporting them as missing.
If this was the first time I wouldn't say a word I would go there check the room for anything out of sorts, search the premises for them, speak to their friends and/or last person that saw them. I check for access to monies, passport, bus pass, access to vehicles what clothing they've got with them, where they originally come from and collect an up to date photograph before staring my enquiries with the local hospitals, mental health institutions, custody units within the force and then check nearby forces as well. Local bus/train/airport would be contacted with photo and CCTV checked around last known movements. I would gain work/school details for checks, local family for more checks. While I'm doing this Ive passed all relevant info to the force control room inspector and or the local inspector for them to grade the missing person as low medium or high. If its a high then I would push our control room to ping the missing persons phone if the missing person has one (obviously after Ive tried to call them first.)
Theres quite a bit to do and quickly.

What I hate and what we continually have to deal with are these runaways or absconders where they've ran out of the house just prior to their bedtime as they've had a row over not having their bedtime fag!!!! The staff have just let them go not tried to stop them as they're not allowed!!!
Or they've not tipped up for bedtime and the evening staff on their way home have sighted them drinking in the local park, they've phoned the night staff who phone us - little billy is missing but hes been sighted in the park drinking???? Doesn't figure how about get off your arse and go and get them?? Reply usually is sorry we don't have enough staff and they just run away anyway!!!
Ive asked before - what about locking them in -NOOOO is the reply from staff that's a fire risk.

I fully understand that the kids are there because of family break up or deaths, or mums a druggie and dads disappeared. Its bad lot, Ive not experienced any home problems so no I cant fully understand their problems but there doesn't seem to be any discipline in these houses and they choose to move a bad egg out of one house home them in another and what happens the other kids join in with the running off!! Its discipline and respect which have gone out of the window and until the social care system changes these kids are going to be a problem for the Police, its always the police that have to go hunting for the kids and it consumes so much time when I should be looking for people committing crime.

Ive tried to explain to these kids how it disrupts the home, the police hours used but they don't listen or just shrug their little shoulders. Then I explain that one day they are going to runaway and get pissed in the park and suddenly a white van will take them off never to be seen again - still they don't give a shit.

You try to treat each case as a poss missing person but as soon as you hear the same name four nights running you kind of don't give a toss, but you have to still do all the checks as above just in case that white van (or any other colour or type of vehicle, don't want to be seen as prejudiced as I drive a white van myself) has tipped up!!!!

Facebook and other social sites

I dont know about the other Police bloggers but I am sick to death of muppets coming to the police to cry and moan about people posting stuff on these sites about them. Grow up, its simple if you see stuff about yourself on another site dont go back, if they post on your site block and delete them - then they wont be able to say stuff to you. Its the same with mobile phones, why is it people without jobs have at least two mobiles, one of them certainly isnt a business phone (unless theyre a drug dealer/abuser). They receive texts of abuse (after theyve been abusive) and come to us to report Malicious communications/harassment. Again report to your phone provider and change your number - simples!!!!
Ive not come across the normal in society that this happens to its always the dregs that we deal with, theyre quick to tell us to fuck off when theyre committing crime but quicker to come and bitch about abuse theyre getting.
And yet we are professional and we take their report and do what we can for the Aggrieved!!!! knowing next week we will be arresting them for something. And theres always the victim who keeps getting this from lots of different persons on different formats and you think, you are a muppet who has probably hit the wasps nest running off and then getting stung thinking woe is me, whys it always me, what have I done.

Theyre all like bloody children in the school yard calling people names - its pathetic.

My usual theme to them is Grow up and take charge of your life, stop being pathetic.

We should be able to seize all their phones and laptops and ban them from owning any form of communication device and make them talk to people in an adult manner maybe then we the police can get on with catching burglars and rapists. Thats the usual thing shouted at me when I arrest someone for a minor crime - "why dont you catch a real criminal theres rapists and burglars instead of my *******" fill in the stars with which family member is appropriate. My reply is usually "I will when your ******** grows up and gets a job, stops committing crime and I can and look for the serious criminals instead of wasting my time".

Also how can these people afford these massive tvs??? every house I go into where theyve got 8 kids by 5 different dads both adults in the house have no jobs due to sickness/laziness/bone idleness and they have a better bigger tv than me. Isnt always the cleaning day the following day when we turn up, ooh sorry for the mess its cleaning day tomorrow - me thinks it should be cleaning up day every day!!!!!
AND, Ive started now so Ill finish, how can they afford all the beer in the house but not the bin bags and cleaning equipment to clear up nor soap for their kids?????

Third time lucky

He was sat slumped on the floor in his office like a puppet with all but one string cut, this string was actually the noose around his neck. It was as if the puppet master had just given up and left his doll on the floor, leaving the handles on a hook on the wall except in this case the rope had been tied through itself through a hole in the new stud wall.

I was the third officer there and being the supervisor the others looked to me for what to do next, they were my probationers, only I had never dealt with a hanging either. I called for the duty SOCO (scenes of crime officer) and duty DS (CID Sergeant) to attend.

Paramedics had already quoted life extinct but we still had to investigate and make sure this was as it appeared a suicide and nothing more suspicious.

The role of the police attending is to see if suspicious or not and in this case not, then to deal with next of kin in person and complete a death report which goes to the coroner. This paperwork includes all the deceased details, next of kin, details of family GP, medical history and events leading up to the death if known. It also includes a statement from a family member or friend identifying the deceased to Police.

The DS was going to be a while so I started instructing my probies (probationer PCs, should use student officer now!!). So sent one off to start house to house and the other to speak to family to inform them of events whilst I checked the scene with SOCO, who had just turned up.

By the time the DS had turned up SOCO had photographed scene and I had started identifying what I thought were relevant exhibits to be seized once the DS arrived.

Once CID were on scene I briefed them and showed them the deceased. CID then instructed me what they wanted (I had already started and hadn't missed anything so was able to answer their questions) and I tasked my probie to search the body and to start seizing everything I had identified. CID were happy and left us to it.

The DS I knew from training school and we started at the same nick together so I had a rapport with them straight away, there was no sucking eggs to be done. We've both been in 15yrs and dealt with most things, although Ive never had an infant death or nasty fatal RTC (road traffic accident) to deal with, touch wood!!! Being a father of youngens I hope I don't have to deal with the infant side, if it happens it happens and Im sure I will cope.

Having being first on scene with a death within my own family whilst off duty in another force area, I dealt with the bobby who tipped up and I don't know why but went into work mode and dealt with the next of kin enquiries, my mum. She burst into tears and dropped the phone so I ended up chatting with my old man. I then helped at scene with the other members of the family who came over. It wasn't until going back to work and then going back to the funeral that it really hit me hard, that I'd lost a member of my family and that's when I started to grieve.

So back to the incident, I completed the paperwork and had the body identified to me, the undertakers came and went and I dispatched the two probies back to the nick to input the property into the store and sort out their PNBs (pocket note books) for the incident. I dealt with the next of kin and left all my details. Once at the station as per procedure I contacted the inspector ad updated them and inputted my basic file for the coroners officers so that the investigation at their end could begin with a PM (post mortem). The noose had been left with the body but the suicide not and the other bits of rope were tagged and bagged.

This wasn't the first time this person had tried to take their own life, this was the third time in two months with visits to the nearby city mental hospital in between. They were in the middle of a divorce with kids involved and financial problems to boot, but why suicide?? Is it selfish or were they driven to it with no other option.

I got home late with my loved ones tucked up in bed asleep, I hadn't eaten in 14hrs so washed my hands had a banana and a cup of tea. I then went upstairs to brush my teeth and go to bed as I couldn't be bothered to eat anything else.

I laid in bed next to the wife and close my eyes, but now I cant sleep, I keep seeing the body sat lifeless, then on the deck with their mouth open as I roll them over checking the body for anything out of the ordinary. Everything is going through my head, have I filled in all the paperwork, shall I go in early tomorrow just in case. Then I noticed I had a funny taste in my mouth I opened my eyes to see my illuminated watch dial reading 30Min's since I had gone to bed. I noticed I hadn't brushed my teeth when I went upstairs I had washed my hands again. I then thought about it and I had washed my hands about 9 times since leaving the scene, 5 of which I had done at home. Then I realised that this death had struck something inside, I don't know why as I have dealt with so many deaths before including four in three shifts during my probationary period many moons ago.

So here I am writing this post hoping I can sleep afterwards, hoping it will rest my mind, making sure I brush my teeth and not wash my hands again. At least Ive eaten more now. Hope I can sleep could be worse I could be doing the school run in four hours, oh wait I am doing the school run. Off to bed now, hope you all are in bed asleep unless you're on the night shift. If you are on nights I hope its not a full moon - that's my next post Nutters and the Full Moon scenario!!!!

Missing persons

Missing Persons or MISPERS as we call them take up part of day to day policing. Numerous persons go missing everyday and some are never found. Some are taken against their will and end up like Jo YEATES in Bristol. On seeing her funeral today my heart goes out to her family.

BUT and there is a BUT, we the police have to deal with another type or MISPER BUT they are not MISPERS they are kids that run away from childcare facilities and everyday they go drinking alcohol, smoking drugs, stealing, fighting and causing damage. They turn up everyday mostly for their food. They are not MIPSERS they re sort of truants, but we the Police have to use our resources every time to search for them just in case they do actually missing. My beef is that social services and the firm that run these care homes don't do anything to help us apart from report it. Surely as guardians they should be out looking for them, I would if my child went missing.

These runaway kids have more rights than the average child, and some homes are not allowed to lock the doors or reprimand the kids due to their rights, I'm sorry but I lock my house every night and I do reprimand my children if needs must (naughty step is enough!!!)

I don't know how other officers and forces get on with their local kids homes, 136 units and social services but they need immediate spinal transplants for all concerned. They are useless the amount of times Ive had to fight my case to have a 136 accepted goes beyond taking my shoes off to help me count. As for runaways kids classed as MISPERS, its an ever day situation and use of resources for us not helped by SS or care homes being as much use as a chocolate teapot when we do take them back or PPO them (that's police protection order).

We have had a recent case whereby a local young person had put themselves into danger by running off from parents and ended up committing cross border crime with one of our nominals. Social decided to house them elsewhere so we used resources to locate him, he ended up at home but SS decided to leave them there as they were safe at home - he ran off before SS pulled their finger out. Then weeks later we captured him after a lot of work detained him PPO. SS was involved and had him transported away from our area OR SO WE THOUGHT.

He ran away from the transport but guess when the police were informed by SS or the transport crew - you re right we were not.

The transport left it almost 10hrs before emailing SS, who then called parents to get them to report them missing. Parents didn't know how, where or what had happened.

So guess what - we are now still looking for them - what a waste of time. I think SS are waiting for the person to go over a certain age where they can just simply wipe their hands of them.

Time well spent NO, waste of Police time and money NO. Cheers SS well done again on your sterling work!!!!!

Police - just a job or a lifetime career???

When I say Police I mean the thin blue line, the ever thinning line of PCs, Sgts and the odd Insp, like Gadget.
I joined the force after a few years in low paid hard jobs as this is the only job - career Ive ever wanted. Its a career to me I don't want to do anything else. I want to keep people safe , help people and lock up baddies ( actually I don't do this, that's the courts job) but you know what I mean. I love my job, I look forward to going in to work never knowing whats coming up.

Some jobs you are sent to involve the same persons and you sometimes dread dealing with these twats, I say that because that's what they are. They cant have do something for themselves and so call 999, or have a conversation with a friend/family member or partner without pissing that person off usually by text or facebook. They then get some abuse or similar back and again call 999. If we banned internet and phones for certain people it would be a lot safer for them and quieter for us, try and sort out your problems in an adult fashion in person and not drunk or on drugs and you might have a nicer life.

I watched coppers the other night for the first time and loved it and it just showed these twats for what they are, misusing the 999 system but unfortunately the police do keep saying yes to most calls, and not sort it out yourself. We are the only people that are called out to a lot of jobs that social services, Samaritans, CAB, local council and other associated groups could, can an should be dealing with.

The cuts have come to all services and now the gov need us to stop the protesting students - shouldn't they be learning and not protesting, and I agree that the money to go to uni will be a lot for the poorer student but then everything has a price and there are scholarships, working alongside learning and stop wasting your money in the student union on beer and dressing up and use it on books and paying for tuition. We're starting to turn into the french with all this protesting, but these twats aren't just protesting they re causing damage and injury and turning the public against them, but its us the thinning blue line that stand in their way. BUT after the Sgt Mark ANDREWS from Wilts police story and the G20 investigations, why should we go hands on with people if we are going to be investigated and put into prison with no back up for gov or our own force. Protest in another country and they will scar you for life or maybe even take it away. I'm not saying we should give people a kicking for no reason, but when we have a reason that should be enough - reasonable force - yes force. That's why it takes 8 officers sometimes to detain someone because we use reasonable force not over use of force, other wise we would send in a biggun, let him batter the shit out of the person to be detained, we don't get hurt and the jobs over and done with quicker and maybe twat features wont kick off next time.

But I do love going to jobs where I think I can make a difference, where just me turning up can put someones fears at bay. I love the older generation that say to us 'I didn't want to bother you', when you know full well that the newer generation would've called us the instant their neighbour gave them a funny look, whereas 'Doris' has just been mugged or burgled and didn't want to waste our time!!!!

Still back to work, am in the middle of a set of shifts - hope to help some real people with real needs.

As the 300th British Hero, a Royal Marine, dies in hospital during the Afghan Conflict you start to think are our guys and gals out there fighting for a cause that can be won??

History shows that we the Brits have been there before as the French and the Soviets and all have suffered losses leaving the war zone with our tails between our legs.
This isn't a fight with man on man most of our deaths, I believe, have been through roadside devices not as a result of direct fire where the enemy can at least be seen. This fight cant be won with just firefights but as our forces have done before in Iraq with Hearts and Minds, getting the local people to see that the Taliban are not their future and neither is the growing of Poppies for illegal drug use.

I know only what I see on TV, read in the newspapers/online and nothing more, having never been out of Europe to see it for myself and never spoken to anyone that's been there.

Wootten Bassett, down in Wiltshire will again see more coffins draped in the Union Jack as our fallen Heroes come back to the UK via RAF Lyneham. That's for now, as I hear its due to be closed which is a great pity as the towns residents do a great job, as the whole country should, paying their respects as the funeral procession parades through.

World Gone Mad!!

What is going on, my area has been nice and Q recently and then all of a sudden I'm dealing with two offensive weapon jobs the same day, one the next day and then a firearms job!!!! This obviously has nothing in comparison to the nearby force of Cumbria, but still is there something in the water or has the moon changed its pattern???
Ive now had domestics involving knives, a samurai sword incident, people trying to kill themselves at 6am and some idiot thinking hes Rambo with an air weapon scaring the potatoes out of passers by thinking they are next on the list. I've also got my usual people who howl at the moon anyway also causing me problems and it doesn't help that the local mental health hospital in the big metropolis nearby is being as helpful and useful as a chocolate T-pot in the Sahara desert releasing people that state they want to kill themselves or who have self harmed!!!
But then I don't work in that field and Ive only had minimal in house training in dealing with mental health issues/incidents.
Ive the job as a new supervisor for the area to try and assess whats happened with limited staff and SMT breathing down my neck. My figures (yes I now deal with figures) have shot through the roof with violent crime. I'm trying to have people arrested for D&D rather than Section 5 Public Order as ones recordable classed as violent crime and the other isn't. It doesn't mean much to outsiders but lets just say both crimes are similar in nature when dealing with idiots on a Saturday night in my little towns with their pubs and one club. I try to have foot patrol officers around as people move about between pubs and the club and again when the club kicks out.
I utilise traffic, dog units (like gold dust) and firearms (usually in the city) to bolster my numbers along with specials to double up my crews. I am trying to sort out any situations when at the lower level so that disorder doesn't happen but recently it doesn't matter how I juggle its gone to the dogs.
Even Ive been arresting people recently and carrying my own workload, not that I mind as Ive done that for the last 13years prior to gaining my new rank. I'm new to my post having not worked with the officers I currently supervise, I know them through the job but its different when you work with someone side by side. They're not used to my way of policing as the last supervisor was a laid back old sweat who worked the job pre-PACE and smoked a pipe.

I feel for the victims in Cumbria and their families and friends. I also feel for the unarmed officers following BIRD knowing that all they could do was follow and report, waiting for armed officers to attend and deal with him. Having to try and save victims, protect the public as well as trying to follow him at a safe distance giving those trained armed officers the needed intelligence of BIRD was going and what he was doing. Cumbria is a small force covering a large rural area ,a thin blue line trying to cope with the day to day incidents let alone what happened that fateful day.

Well its Sunday 9th May 2010 and the premier league has finally ended after a fantasic season where it was left until the last game to decide the champions.
It was down to Manchester United to win against Stoke at Old Trafford and for Wigan to win away at Stamford Bridge to deny Chelsea the title. United had to win as a draw would draw them level, with Chelsea having a better goal difference.
But it didnt take long for the league leaders Chelsea to start piling on the misery for the Red Devils, Wigan lost a man and I think their heads dropped as the goals just kept coming. Drogba in the first half looking to clinch the golden boot from Rooney looked like he was sulking, the second half he was a changed man and got himself a hatrick.

By the way Im not a blue (although a fellow blogger from across the border is - NODDY!!) before anyone says anything, my colours are green and yellow. I dont have SKY or any other channel that might have shown the games live so had to watch the beeb on the red button for my updates.

There were goals galore for the what used to be big four, Liverpool where have you gone??? Arsenal, United and Chelski all put their marker on the last game. As for Spurs didnt you take your foot off the pedal, Burnley came back and spanked you from 2-0 down. I knew Fulham would lose as they have nothing to play for in the league and everything to play for in europe next week - good luck guys Englands backing you all the way.

Going back to Chelski, theyve now scored more goals than any other team before them to win the league and Im not surprised with their displays at home crushing teams including Villa with 7 goals. Drogba has the golden boot, Chelsea and secured a possible double if they can get passed Pompey at Wembley to win the FA Cup. Pompey are down, they are plus130million in debt so this is their biggest game, they need to win for pride and for the money!!! Their players want to be bought by premier league or foreign teams so have to fight.

Bye bye Pompey, Hull and Burnley and hello back to Newcastle, West Brom (boing boing) and one of the following - Cardiff, Leicester, Blackpool and Notts Forest.

Im hoping to watch all of the play off finals.

I hope BARRY and ROONEY are okay there are two England friendly games to play prior to the World Cup in South Africa. SO for all the footie fans the games dont stop today, theres more to watch. Our national team can now drop their own team colours and wear the three lions proudly, to fight for our cause, for England and St George.

Twickenham Army Navy 2010

It was that time again when two rivals on the pitch met to slug it out, whatever the weather, on a great pitch in a magnificent stadium where our national rugby team calls home, yes Twickers!!

Being NAVY, Ive been dismayed at the results the last few years when ARMY have smashed us to pieces both at Kneller Hall (Royal Military School of Music next to Twickenham Stadium) in the vets game and in the main event. Last year the red army blasted us out of the water with a 50-7 points haul. It took a lot of beer to get over that one!!

We haven't won since 2001 with a 31-20 win and that was a blip in whats been a red decade until finally on Saturday 1st May 2010 in front of a 56000 crowd, NAVY stepped up to the plate.

But we will get to that in a minute. The first matches of the day were at Kneller, I was late, had a great big coat with me as the MET Office stated it would pour down from about 1400hrs. I missed the kick off at 1030, where both the ladies and the vets played alongside each other. I dumped my change into the SSAFA collection bucket and got myself a little sticker and then bumped into a few faces I had not seen in a while and the beer started flowing. I missed some of the match due to drinking, buying my drink and waiting in the long queue to the plastic bogs. Maybe just maybe, I should have joined the no necked bootneck (Royal Marine) who whilst watching the vets match at the sideline, without even looking around got his oldboy out and peed on the grass. I looked around and there only seemed to be one female that was upset at the sight and gave him a verbal bollocking. The rest of the crowd both male and female either laughed and pointed or shook their heads. Me, I stepped back so not to get splash back from him. Cheers mate!!!

ARMY won both games and it was time to eat. I didn't fancy the burgers on sale so left with my chums and entered the stadium grounds. There were some great costumes being worn from superheroes, cross dressers to fat sumo wrestlers and what seemed to be a sea of RED go army tops. I thought about purchasing a NAVY rugger top to try and even up this sea of RED but at 40notes, I thought I could spend that better on lining my stomach with a bit of scran before spending the rest in one of the beer tents.

It was 1415hrs, 45minutes til kick off so I went and found my seat, gate A, west side middle tier. The top tier wasn't open and not being used but the rest of the stadium was full. The game started okay but at half time it was 15-3 ARMY and I thought here we go again. Come on Lads we got to make up for last year.
Then the first streaker, he had just pants on and was running along the top tier to great cheers when he bared his cheeks. I found myself watching and cheering as he escaped the orange coated marshalls who he outwitted a few times. This then started the volume of people running up on the tiers and then invading the pitch. I don't advocate this juvenile behaviour but when ZORRO comes onto the pitch, I was in stitches. Right into the centre of the pitch and down on one knee he went, with a trio of marshalls coming towards him but it was his cape that was his downfall. As they approached he did evade them to a great cheer but one of them later grabbed him by the cape and he was done for to which the whole crowd booed.

Back to the game we were losing ground to ARMY 22-6 and all around me the RED supporters had given me abuse.
But with a few penalty kicks and then our first try, I had a good feeling that the BABCOCK trophy might be coming back to where it belonged as it was now 22-19 ARMY. Then with only minutes to go Gareth EVANS - made a cracking try making the score 22-24 NAVY. Come On get in there. But it took forever, the ref couldn't see the try and we had to wait to review the footage on the big screen and for the judgement to be made. I could see it was down, everyone around me could see it was down. Finally TRY was called, the ref blew and the BLUE shirts cheered.

ARMY were all over the ball and I watched the clock count down, I even counted from the 10 second mark as if I were sending a rocket into space.

The ball went out, the ref blew his whistle and the eggchasers of the NAVY were victors at last. Game over 22-24 NAVY.

New Sergeant

With parts 1 and 2 of the sergeants exam (that's a written multi guess test and a practical) plus the board passed, the challenge is now a running a ruralshire neighbourhood community policing team covering a large area. The area is huge but with less population compared to that of the metropolis that has been left behind. No more nights unless there is a particular series of nocturnal crimes that come across in what I term is now 'MY MANOR.' There are two very small towns and a load of villages to care for with a mixture of various members of the community.
There are going to be fairs and fetes, heads of WI, town commerce chiefs, retired generals and the like, local press and the list goes on and that's before meetings with SMT (Police senior management team.) A response shift is so much easier, but if I want to make the next rank (yes I'm getting ahead of myself) this is the way to go. I'm not going to be able to please everyone and I want to make a name for myself but without stepping on anyone or losing myself and my morals. I know I may have to change some of my thinking and do some pink and fluffy stuff, but its better than rolling around with drunken muppets on a Saturday nights - or is it???

Anyone know anything about the badger act?? Or how to get a bull back into its field??

I like the idea of Discretion and before this email from SMT I wonder what I had been doing. I hope this shows our bosses are not slaves to those stats gathering monkeys in government, and I personally like it. This is what the public want as well.

Road Block

So I'm working a Wednesday morning and its 7am, Ive just started and the night crew are still in work completing their paperwork for what was a very busy night. I hear a call on the radio for a unit to go to an RTC on one of the main roads in my area. Other units get to the scene first so I take on the 'Road Block'. Its quite a serious incident, paramedics and fire are on scene and even our helicopter is attending. My block is to be put on a cross junction where I can divert any but Artics either left or right, the artics have to be turned around and sent back to the motorway to go another junction.
I park my car with its blues still flashing on the other side of my junction, put out cones and signs stating ACCIDENT and ROAD CLOSED. Ive left enough room between my car and the cars at an angle so that recovery, fire etc can get in and out. The blocks also been put on the other side of the RTC.
Its a lovely summer morning very light and Ive got my High Vis tabard on and of course my hat and am now the other side of the junction from my car diverting traffic. Its quite easy most traffic can go left or right and catch up to the other side of the block and Im doing my best to smile and help people on their way whilst dealing with three lots of traffic but most of it is coming on the main road towards the RTC.

Most people have their satnavs on and maps and ask no questions just answering my simple question what town or city do you want to end up in??

Most of the public are great but I kept getting the f@&king idiots asking the following

CAN I NOT GET THROUGH & WHATS HAPPENED??- and I'm thinking, Police officer stood in road, police car and cones blocking road, signs saying road closed and accident
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE ANSWER IS, STUPID (obviously I'm thinking this whilst smiling at them)
I ask them TELL ME PLACE YOU NEED TO GO AND I CAN POINT YOU EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT FROM HERE, to which theres a blank look and the answer STRAIGHT AHEAD.

At this point I want to punch them right in their suck hole, followed by pulling them out of their car, pulling their top over their head from the back in an ICE HOCKEY fight styley before banging their head off of their own cars bonnet.

Obviously I don't do this and just stick to TURN LEFT HERE AND TAKE THE NEXT RIGHT and move onto the next car.

But I still had a couple of vehicles go passing me and drove in between my cones and signs through my road block towards the RTC. The people that did this got a bollocking from the traffic units dealing with the casualties and turned around. How stupid are you people???? How much more detail do you need to show the road is closed - a brick wall???

Or these crap parents who have split up and use us the Police to help them get one over on their partner and the only loser is the poor child being pulled from pillar to post. And its the same family members time and time again - they should be both put before a court for wasting police time.

Im having a rant here sorry,

there was a story about offenders 60-000 of them put in prison each year for less than 12months doesnt help them and they re-offend - thats because its not long enough and they go straight back to the same circle of thieving and or drugs. The minimum should be two years and it shouldnt be a holiday camp. Lots of courses to help them with anger or drugs or whatever they are in for, lots of work, no PS3s or decent tv - just the news channel. Obviously Im not sayng this should be for the first offence but after the third offence. Give them a chance and get probation in early after one court appearance.
Some times these offenders get 6weeks wow that'll learn 'em. Whats the point of that. They also shouldnt get free legal advice after their third offence - tough dont re-offend. If they cant afford it, they should be sent to a sort of work camp and earn money to pay for their legal fees.

Ive got a long list but Im sure their human rights would be contravened. Whatever happened to the prisoners taking the prison to court for breaching their human rights as they werent allowed their heroin and it caused them to go cold turkey?? Mind you with the state of affairs in this country Im suprised if they didnt win!!!

That convict who won the lottery - he should have had all the monies taken from him to repay compensation to his victims and to pay for his prison attendance.

OSPRE Sgts exam

The exam is tomorrow - I'm not sure if I'm worried about taking it or if its more of a release not to pass it. Im on my first go at it and would like to pass to progress my career as Im at the top level PC. I got to make a choice do I stay put where Iam, try to progress upwards or do I look at CID or intel unit??

Ive bought all the books, done the courses and am completing the online questions and I still dont understand some of this law stuff!!! Contradictions in places, different ages in different laws. Why not just one or two ages for everything. Why have different officers authorising different police actions why cant Inspectors do everything, instead of learning mnemonics. SO anyway I learn all this law stuff and start on the online questions - F*&^ Me they are hard to read let alone try and answer. I can usually get the answer down to two of the four multi-choice options but then re read the question and all of them could be right. I thought traffic was black and white, oh no its not. Then theres all of the stuff in custody - timings, evidence, interviews and identification.

Such a big fuss, is he a bully or just assertive?? The news stated that a bully helpline had some calls from persons working for him, but the lady working for the helpline when asked did they directly state they had been bullied by the PM and the answer was no, so what are they going on about?? Have I missed something??

They started then stating about him losing his temper and getting angry AND?? SO what I want someone that loses their temper it makes him human, obviously I dont want a PM that goes nuts when hes given the wrong brew or wrong biscuits but if the ARgies kick off I want him to be leveled headed, be assertive with them and if need be have a go at them for trying to take back the Falklands - Oil again. Would the yanks help us, there is oil involved.

Wanted - Peter BLAKE

BLAKE who was due at Londons High Court on Wednesday has disappeared. The court was the first in over 350years to be heard without a jury.

He is described as dangerous by Police, he has already attended court in January 2010 along with others charged with Robbery and firearms offences.

My question is why was he on bail, why not remanded - these are not trivial offences. He is dangerous has commited violent offences and should be under lock and key until the court sits. I understand the fact that everyone is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law, but what happens if he commit a further or more serious violent crime??

On the news recently it has been brought up that a number of sex offenders, I believe mostly paedophiles have disappeared. Probation and Police get the blame but if they are so dangerous why not put them on a tag system, take away their passports etc etc.

The justice system is too soft, the criminals have more rights than the public and we end up arresting the same persons again and again, with the courts not giving them a custodial in the local HMP. I understand the prisions are full, then build more prisions. I know it costs a lot to keep people incarcerated but they commit numerous crimes most of which are never solved.

I have a court case recently where the defendant openly lied in court about him going to college and having a job. In the recess I found out his story was false and alerted CPS. The magistrates wouldnt listen, and released the person to commit more crime and asked that probation fill out a report for the next hearing. So effectively Im am not believed but the defendant was, why is this???

RIP Pc Daniel COOPER

The funeral of Wiltshire Officer Pc Daniel COOPER takes place tomorrow Tuesday 16th February 2010.

Dan based at Trowbridge lost his life whilst en route to a job to assist other officers on the 1st February 2010 and will be sadly missed.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I'm sat watching crap on the television and thought I would come back to my site. I used the blog last time to put my thoughts down somewhere, like a diary, this helped me get over a few issues both at work and my personal life.

I have been an office monkey for a while now, but have just been posted back to the front line. Its like being a Probie again, sorry Student Officer for the PC lot!!! I'm getting back into the 'hat and chat' with the public and working with a shift instead of on my own. There's a bit of banter but as I do not really know the officers I am now working with, I tend to bite my lip rather than let out my sarcastic and witty comments. I've got close friends on other shifts who I see on shift change-over or outside of work and I can be myself but who knows what other people are noting down. It mind sound a but odd but sometimes you cannot voice your own opinion or say something you might find funny just in case someone takes offence and you find yourself in the inspectors office.

Personally I love Frankie Boyle, Jimmy Carr and Jack Dee and that is my type of humour. But each to their own I suppose, I have to adjust to my audience and wait until I know my colleagues better.

I'm a dad of two little chaps and before they came along I used to live for my work, now I work to live. I didn't realise how much you sacrifice for a family but its worth every penny. I didn't think much of kids before but now its all that really matters. I got wasted all through my late teens and 20s and now I'm out maybe three times a year. I wouldn't think much about blowing 60 to 80notes on a night out,but that's a weeks shopping now!! Am I sad or have I just grown up? I do sometimes get jealous of the single life but only for a few seconds as my family are my world even though my house looks like a toy store and laundrette.

Well thats my first post I suppose I had better go to work......
